Signed mirror list: how operators prove a Vortex URL is theirs

From Vortex Wiki, the Vortex knowledge base

A list of addresses is only as trustworthy as the signature under it.

Definition

A signed mirror list is a short text containing the current addresses, signed with the operators' long-term key so anyone can check who wrote it.

Why the signature matters

Lists are copied and reposted everywhere. The signature lets you confirm that a vortex url on the list came from the operators, wherever you found it.

What it does not prove

A valid signature shows who published the list, not that the service is safe or that every address is online right now.

How we use it

Before an address goes into a slot on this wiki, it is compared with the latest signed list and with the address it replaces.
