Entry queue: the waiting page in front of the Vortex link
From Vortex Wiki, the Vortex knowledge base
A short wait in front of the door is normal; questions at the door are not.
Definition
An entry queue is a holding page that admits visitors a few at a time. Many onion services put one in front of their login when traffic is high.
What it protects against
Flooding a service with requests is cheap. A queue makes each visitor wait a little, which slows automated floods far more than real people.
What is normal
A countdown, a progress indicator or a simple puzzle before the vortex link loads is ordinary behaviour.
What is not
A queue page never needs your password, recovery phrase or a payment. A page that asks for any of these before letting you in is not the real one.
