Recovery phrase: the words that can restore an account
From Vortex Wiki, the Vortex knowledge base
A handful of ordinary words can be worth more than the password itself.
Definition
A recovery phrase, also called a mnemonic, is a list of words generated when an account is created. It can restore access if the password is lost.
Shown once
Most services display the phrase a single time. If it is not written down then, it usually cannot be shown again.
Storage
Keep it offline, on paper or in an encrypted password manager. A screenshot in a phone gallery is one of the worst places for it.
The one rule
You type a recovery phrase only on the official recovery page, never into a chat, a message or a page you reached from an unchecked vortex link.
