From Vortex Wiki, the Vortex knowledge base
A private coin does not protect you from sending it to the wrong address.
Definition
Monero, ticker XMR, is a cryptocurrency designed to hide amounts, senders and receivers on its public ledger.
Compared with Bitcoin
Bitcoin transactions are public and can be traced between addresses. Monero hides this information by default.
Address checks
Clipboard-hijacking malware swaps copied wallet addresses. Compare the first and last characters after pasting any address.
Irreversible
Cryptocurrency payments cannot be cancelled. A payment sent to a fake page or wrong address is almost always lost.
